Altea SS23. A tale of a French summer

Heights of the Bay of Cannes, the coastline jutting into the Mediterranean, ancient trees surrounding one of the pearls of the French Riviera. Villa La Californie, the summer residence of Pablo Picasso’s summers and a place of worship for the artist’s creativity, becomes the inspiration behind Altea’s new Spring-Summer 2023 collection.

A tale linked to the life of the 1960s, a decade capable of combining in style a casual and comfortable clothing with a more glamorous one.

The knitwear recalls the informal elegance of the cult film Plein Soleil, with break effects constructed on the loom capable of enlivening classic designs such as navy stripes and fair isle jacquards. Lightweight cotton, combined with a palette in sun-kissed earth tones.

There is no shortage of references to classic, timeless style in the men’s wardrobe. Tailored and workwear models are deconstructed and combined with new fibers, light and fresh, such as linen cloths, cotton poplin and lyocell in typical Mediterranean colors. The coolness of cobalt, the vibrant lavender of Provence flowers and the brick of earth, for an unmistakable and timeless style.

Research in materials in communion with careful craftsmanship continues. Linen, jacquard and Japanese nylon become canvases on which to paint with oriental-flavored prints, overdyes and the timeless tie dye.

Hand dyes characterize the collection for a sun-faded or paint-stained effect. Colors reminiscent of summer that thanks to the uniqueness of the application make each Altea model unique and different
